Summary of movements of individual Battalions.

1st BATTALION

1914

August: Fyzabad, India.

16 November: arrived Plymouth, England. Stationed Winchester – 82nd Brigade, 27th Division.

20 December: landed at Le Havre.

1915

12 December: moved to Salonika

1916

2 November: transferred to 29th Brigade, 10th (Irish) Division.

1917

14 September: Division moved to Egypt for service in Palestine.

2nd BATTALION 

1914

August: Cork – 17th Brigade, 6th Division.

18 August: Cambridge and then on to Newmarket.

12 September: landed at St Nazaire.

1915

14 October: transferred with Brigade to 24th Division.

19 October: transferred to 73rd Brigade, 24th Division.

1918

1 February: transferred to 47th Brigade, 16th (Irish) Division. Absorbed troops from disbanded 7th Battalion.

13 April: absorbed troops from disbanded 6th Connaught Rangers.

23 April: transferred to 88th Brigade, 29th Division.

3rd (RESERVE) BATTALION

1914

August: stationed Birr. A depot/training Battalion and, on mobilisation, moved to Cork.

1917

November: Portsmouth as part of the Portsmouth Garrison.

1918

May: Absorbed 4th and 5th Battalions.

4th (EXTRA RESERVE) BATTALION

1914

August: Maryborough. A depot/training Battalion and, on mobilisation, moved to Crosshaven.

November: Passage West

1915

May: to Devonport.

September: The Curragh.

1916

April: Limerick

1917

August: Tralee.

November: Dover.

1918

May: Portsmouth where absorbed by 3rd Battalion.

5th (EXTRA RESERVE) BATTALION

1914

August: Drogheda. A depot/training Battalion and, on mobilisation, moved to Queenstown. October: Passage West.

1915

May: Plymouth.

September: Mullingar.

1916

April: The Curragh.

1917

June: Laytown.

August: Boyle.

September: Birr.

November: Glencorse.

1918

May: Portsmouth where absorbed by 3rd Battalion.

6th (SERVICE) BATTALION

1914

August: Formed in Dublin and attached 29th Brigade, 10th (Irish) Division. Moved to Fermoy and then The Curragh.

October: Birr

1915

February: The Curragh.

May: Basingstoke.

9 July: embarked at Liverpool and sailed to Gallipoli via Mudros.

5 August: landed Anzac Cove.

29 September: Salonika via Mudros.

1917

14 September: Egypt for service in Palestine.

1918

May: left the Division and sailed from Port Said

1 June: landed Marseilles.

23 July: 14th (Light) Division and then 34th Division.

20 July: 198th Brigade, 66th (2nd East Lancashire) Division.

12 September: disbanded at Abancourt.

7th (SERVICE) BATTALION

1914

October: Formed in Fermoy and attached to 47th Brigade, 16th (Irish) Division.

1915

January: Kilworth.

September: Blackdown.

18 December: Le Havre.

1918

14 April: disbanded at Tincourt, troops going to 2nd Battalion and 19th Entrenching Battalion.
